How To: Make Turkish Coffee

How to Make Superb Turkish Coffee!

What is Turkish Coffee?
Turkish coffee is a type of preparation using unfiltered coffee. The type of roast you use will be finely grounded and is usually purchased from Turkey, Macedonia, Serbia, or the other surrounding Balkan countries.

Disclaimer: When preparing Turkish coffee, it is imperative you stay near the kitchen at all times until it is finished.

Steps to Making Turkish Coffee
1. Equipment needed

(Pictured from Left to Right; Gezve (small cooking pot, also spelled differently depending on the region/country), small cup for the coffee, mixing spoon, and the Turkish coffee grounded and ready for brewing.)

2. Preparation

A. Fill a small cup with as much water as you want the coffee to be.
B. Pour the water into the Gezve and turn the heat on HIGH
C. Take one hungry scoop of ground coffee and mix it into the water

3. Brewing

A. Stay next to the stove at this point.
B. In about 3-5 minutes the coffee will begin to boil. The moment it does, you’re ready to pour it into the cup.

4. Enjoying

(The coffee should have a light layer of foam atop its surface, if it doesn’t you either did not boil it enough or boiled it too much)
